Well I can finally say that I have defeated my writers block. It’s been hanging over my head for almost a month and just a couple of days ago it decided to leave; since then I’ve written around 5,000 words for various projects, mostly Mirror of Sols which has almost reached 25% complete.

There was one small, tiny positive to the whole writers block phase; I managed to get a heap of school work done. A little over a week ago I spent a few days in Melbourne where I had a mid-year exam and a seminar to attend for one of my subjects. The exam went alright or, at least I think I went alright, and the seminar was a lot of fun. I got to meet some new people and we had a really great time, even though it was for school.

As you can see the site has a new layout. I’ve been fiddling with this thing for well over a month now and I only just finished it. I’m pretty sure everything works fine but I may have missed something so please let me know if you find anything wrong.

I realised the other day that I haven’t been reading anywhere near as much as I’d like to. I’ve purchased a few books over the last month, one of which I am slowly making my way through. The problem with two of them is that they’re both the first book in a series and I like reading series in order so that didn’t turn out very good. I’m still looking for more book suggestions even though my list is pretty big. I’m deleting books from the list as I purchase them so it’s shrinking slowly. Please take a look at the list and suggest some books, I love discovering new authors.

Well it’s been an extremely long time since I updated here so I thought I’d better update everyone on what’s been going on lately.

I’ve revamped by Projects page with my active projects as there were a couple on there that weren’t being worked on. Until the Dawn has been pushed back behind some new projects and Ode to the Angel which I haven’t had up there for a while isn’t being worked on any more for the time being. Here are some updates for each of the projects now on the Projects page.

Mirror of Sols
I’ve had a bit of trouble writing anything for this story lately. I’m just about ready to tie myself to my chair, turn off the internet and just write but I haven’t gotten there just yet. I’m definitely planning on writing some more for this story soon.

Dreamland
When I started writing Dreamland again I had a huge burst of inspiration and now it’s sitting at over 18,000 words. The first few chapters are up at deviantART because I wanted to post something besides poetry there. Hopefully I’ll get some good feedback and maybe I’ll be able to really improve it.

Untitled
Yes, Untitled, how boring. I’m hoping someone might help me with titling this one as I’ve had a lot of trouble trying to put a name to it. I’ve decided to write a collection of short stories based on and inspired by mythological and legendary creatures/beings. The thought came to me about a week ago and I loved the idea as I’m not a big short story writer but I’d always wanted to give it a go. The first one can be found here, titled The Girl They Called Phoenix and as I’m sure you worked out it’s based on the Phoenix. This story actually worked perfectly because I could also enter it in a contest that I found the day after coming up with the idea because the theme fit, how convenient!

Now I have some very exciting news. I jumped onto deviantART this afternoon and was greeted by a lovely note telling me that the first chapter of Dreamland had been featured by DailyLitDeviations. DLD is a club that features various poems and poetry daily to promote Literature as deviantART’s Daily Deviations only ever feature a maximum of 1 Literature deviation daily. It’s basically like a Daily Deviation for us writers so I was extremely shocked when I found out that I was featured. It certainly brightened up my day.

This week’s Booking Through Thursday question is…

What book would you love to be able to read again for the first time?

This is such a difficult question as I’ve read so many amazing books. Looking at my bookshelf right now I would have to say that if I could read a book for the first time again it would have to False Impression by Jeffrey Archer purely for the fact that I couldn’t bring myself to put it down the second time I read it. I think I stayed up until about 3 o’clock in the morning reading it even though I knew exactly what was going to happen; it’s just such a gripping book.

Now for some updates. Mirror of Sols has been going fairly slowly over the last few days but I’m hoping to get back into it by next week.
My project, Ode to the Angel, which I announced in my last post is being put on hold due to the fact that I’m having a little bit of trouble with the plot which is mostly to do with the fact that it’s based in the real world which means a bit of research is required. I’m still very much looking forward to writing it.
You may remember one of my old projects, Dreamland, which I stopped writing a few months ago. Well, it’s made a comeback. I decided that I wanted to put one of my stories onto my deviantART account and after going through all of my ideas I decided on Dreamland. At the moment I’ve uploaded the short poem I wrote to go with the story as well as the first two chapters; you can check it all out here.
If you’re interested you can also check out my latest poetry which is all posted at deviantART. If you’re a member of dA I would absolutely love to get some comments or critiques (as I finally saved enough money to get a subscription) to really help me improve my writing. All help is very much appreciated.

That’s all for now.
