Well this post is definitely well overdue. Ever since I got home from Melbourne I’ve been frantically trying to catch up on my NaNoWriMo novel, All the King’s Men, that it’s just about consumed my life. I managed to make it to 40,000 words last night and I’m hoping to write another 4,000 before I go to bed tonight. I definitely think I’ll be winning NaNoWriMo this year (unless something goes horribly wrong) but there is no hope of me finishing my novel in the next 10,000 words. How is everyone else going?

Christmas is coming around again so fast that I can’t believe it’s almost here again. I’ve been lucky enough to get my Christmas present already, an iPod Touch (I desperately needed a new iPod) and I’m actually writing this post with it!

One thing I’ve missed over the last month is reading. I’ve been spending every spare moment working on my NaNoWriMo novel that I haven’t had the chance to just sit down and read a book. I have heaps of unread books and I even won a book through Good Reads which I haven’t had the chance to read yet. I did buy a couple of books while I was in Melbourne too: The Old Kingdom Chronicles by Garth Nix and a new edition of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass as my old one is, well, old, and kind of falling apart (it belonged to my Mum). As soon as November is over I will be straight in to my unread book collection and I’m hoping to buy some new books with the money I get at Christmas. What does everyone want for Christmas?

I’m into day seven of NaNoWriMo and I’ve discovered that my most productive hours of writing are in the middle of the night. I certainly don’t mind staying up if I’m writing but I don’t think my parents are too happy about it…
I’ve reached 14,549 words at the moment which is a lot more than the minimum total that everyone should have at the end of today, which is 11,667. I’m even writing my novel as I write this post so the word count continues to rise still.
I haven’t really found any part of the story that I’d like to share as the whole thing sounds kind of horrible at the moment (I like editing my writing long before anyone sees it) so I’m not sure if I’ll be posting an excerpt, at least any time soon.
I’ve been meaning to write a bit of a progress post for a couple of days now but this post is also to let people know that I will be disappearing from the internet from tomorrow until next Sunday. Tuesday is the big day for my final exams for school so I’ll be in Melbourne all week and it’s unlikely that I’ll find any time to hop on the net. I’ll definitely write another progress post as soon as I get back but until then I’ll just be using Twitter with my phone. Unfortunately I can’t get replies or messages on my phone so I won’t be able to reply to anyone. So, until next Sunday, goodbye.

NaNoWriMo 2009 has finally started and with that I’ve decided to open my site again. It’s been far too long since I’ve done anything here but I’m back!
This year my NaNoWriMo novel, All the King’s Men is yet another fantasy story. I haven’t added any information to the website but you can find a little blurb on my NaNoWriMo page.
I’ve done so much planning and preparing for this years NaNoWriMo that what originally started out as a single novel has now become a trilogy! Sometimes my mind can go a little wild but it’s definitely a good thing. All of my other projects are currently on hiatus for NaNoWriMo but they just may be on hiatus for a little longer then that, though I’ll probably go back to them every now and again.
I’m planning on getting a really good head start for NaNoWriMo this year as I’ve got my end of year exams coming up on November 10th (I still can’t believe they both got scheduled on the same day!) so I won’t have much time to write around then. In fact, I’ll most likely disappear from the internet around then altogether.
I’ll hopefully be posting updates here every few days about NaNoWriMo and I’m not sure yet, but I might post little snippets too, though they won’t be edited (which really means they’ll probably be horrible).
If you’re doing NaNoWriMo this year than feel free to add me as a Writing Buddy, just comment here and tell me your username so I know who you are.
And to all those doing NaNoWriMo, good luck!
